Days 2 & 3

sooo you caught me... I skipped a day. I guess I'll just catch up by doing 2 days in one.

Day 2: post a pic of the person you've been the closest with the longest

ok so this was a hard one for me... obviously the people I've known the longest are my parents but I don't know if that really counts since the people that EVERYONE has known the longest are their parents ya know?

So here are pictures of the 3 people who I am closest to.




My mom is one of my best friends and not just because she's my mom.



Nathan obviously knows me the most intimately (no sexual innuendo meant but that too I guess *wink wink*) Sometimes it amazes me how honest I am with him not that you're not suppose to be honest in marriage because of course that's important. But don't we all have those little small things that we keep to ourselves even if they're silly and stupid? It's just nice to have someone who has seen me act like a total nut bag and he still loves me anyway.



Jenn and I have pretty much been friends since Nathan and I have been together (actually Nathan and I's first date was a double date with Joe and Jenn now that I think about it) and it's just nice to have someone who makes you laugh and someone who you can be silly with but also someone who I can be honest and have a real conversation with. I also don't ever have to worry about our friendship and I don't really have to do anything to maintain it which is rather lovely. I don't have to worry that we're not gonna be friends 10 or 20 years down the road because I know we will be.

Day 3: Post a picture of the cast of your favorite TV show



I mean did you really think it was going to be something else?

UGH! I love this show so much that it's almost not even worth going into because everyone already knows how I feel about my Friends. It just makes me sooooo happy. I love the characters, I love the cast, I love the writing, honestly I could watch Friends and nothing but Friends and be happy as a clam for the rest of my life.

Not only is this show HILARIOUS to me but something about how I feel about the characters... it's like they're real people to me. That's why I cry during the Chandler and Monica proposal scene or when Monica finds out she can't have a baby, or when Phoebe cries because she has to give up the triplets or when David goes back to Minsk, or when Rachel finds out she's pregnant... or a million others that I'm probably forgetting.

I love this show, I adore this show and while I LOVE other shows like Gilmore Girls, Grey's, Dexter... nothing can ever really compare to Friends.

Side note: is it weird that I gushed more about a TV show than the people in my life???

Side note #2: I now have a friend at work named Chandler and it makes me endlessly happy!

These little mini missions should do a good job of keeping me updating and even though some of them are kind of silly at least I'll get in the habit of signing in and updating this darn thing.

Day 1 a picture of yourself and 15 facts (people know too much about me to try and come up with 15 things that nobody knows so you might know a lot of these sorry)



1. I was born on October 5th the cut off for kindergarten was the 1st... because of this I have been older than most people in my grade all through school.
2. I hate card games with an actual deck of cards and I REALLY hate playing spoons... a lot (I did however recently play MOW and it was pretty fun)
3. I love midnight movies, yes there are always a lot of people there and the wait is long but they are just so fun!
4. My favorite color is pink
5. I love the smell of vanilla candles
6. No matter how much you love the series Friends you don't love it more than me
7. I am addicted to Facebook
8. I am addicted to Diet Coke
9. I can't live without my ipod
10. I want to be a Youtube celebrity
11. While I go back and forth with what I want to name our daughter (one day) Nathan and I have our boy's name already picked out and we have for years... Holden (you steal this name I will kill you in your sleep)
12. I love to sleep and I can sleep for a looooong time. People say it's wasting the day but I don't feel that way at all. Why can't sleeping be productive?
13. I cry very easily
14. If I like a song I will listen to it over and over and over again until I'm totally sick of it. Right now I literally can't stop listening to Taylor Swifts "Better than revenge"
15. I cry every time... EVERY TIME I watch the scene in Friends when Monica and Chandler get engaged.

First Christmas in a new house

This year is going to be our first Christmas in our cute little house so I want to make it a good one. Obviously we are on a budget so I can't go all out the way I want to but I have a pretty good theme in mind. Pink and Black!

Ok, not very traditional I know but honestly we're not very traditional people and I just think it sounds like so much fun.

Pink my my favorite color and black is Nathan's and it just so happens that those colors go really well together so it works out well.

We've decided to buy a white Christmas tree. And my idea is that every year we can have a new color or theme. I've always loved white trees and I think they are a great blank canvas for different themes each year.

So the plan is to get a bunch of black and pink ornaments to put all over the tree as well as get black and pink stockings for me, Nathan, Jackson, Audrey and Lacey (black for boys and pink for girls)

The only other things I plan on buying (because like I said we are on a major budget) are a few lights for the house We're not gonna do a lot because that would get expensive. I just want a few and every year we can add a few more to our collection. and I want to make a wreath for the front door. I'm thinking something like this...



Only with some black added in but we'll see what I end up with I might just buy one because sadly... I'm not crafty.

So yeah, those are my plans and again sorry I only update this thing once in a blue moon!

10 reasons why I love Gilmore Girls

If I could be any one fictional character it would hands down be Lorelai Gilmore. She's just the coolest mom/person/friend ever I have a deep undying love of Gilmore Girls and also for Lauren Graham herself she's incredibly underrated and I can't for the life of me figure out why she's not a much, much, much bigger star than she is.

So here are a few clips to give you an example of why I LOVE Gilmore Girls, Lorelai Gilmore and Lauren Graham. I dare you to watch these and not fall in love with her or want to watch the show.... seriously.... next to Friends... best show ever!

I don't know...

I have no idea why it takes me so long to update this stinking thing. I have said before that I always have a million things rolling around in my head so it should be easy but for some reason it's not it actually seems harder... odd.

So what is up with the Rickaway's???

Well we got into a really amazing, cute, perfect-size-for-us little house. It's SO nice to have a place that is OUR HOME. We're renting now but have every intention of buying it when our lease is up (or when we feel like we can afford it).

Things are a little (and by a little I mean a lot) tight with money right now. I WISH we were one of those couples who could just go out and buy what we want/need when we want/need it but we're not. We are however working on our business and even though it seems like success is a long time coming it will be worth it in the end. I have faith that this business is what God wants for our lives. I feel that we are a couple who are meant to spend all day every day together. There have just been too many doors that God has closed in other areas and for some reason this business is the only door that he continually leaves open. YES, it is hard to be low on $$ and YES, we are sometimes together so much that we get on each others nerves and YES, it is annoying that nobody seems to really understand what we do but I really do think it's for the best. I think one day when we have a baby and we have the luxury of being able to spend all the time in the world with our kids that will make it all worth it. I don't want to be a working mom, I know it works really well for a lot of women but it doesn't feel right for me and I don't want Nathan to have to miss out on stuff either. I want us BOTH to be there when our baby says their first words or takes their first steps I want our kids to grow up with equal memories of mommy AND daddy. Yes, there are great moms and dads who work and I would never think less of anyone who works hard to provide for their family but I don't think it will be the plan for us. Of course God does have a way of changing things around so I guess we'll see.

The animals are good Audrey is my baby girl, she's a princess and that can be cute and also annoying. She is the cat that will for sure poop on the couch if the littler box isn't cleaned to her specifications. Lacey, is a scaredy cat quit literally she is afraid of EVERYTHING and her fear sometimes causes her to act a fool but truthfully she is really loving and silly. And Jackson is... Jackson. He is wild, he is crazy and he is constantly making me laugh he is a character for sure and even though sometimes I want to KILL HIM 90% of the time he is a sweetheart.

Nathan and I's marriage has been through a LOT in the 4 1/2 years that we've been married. Honestly I think we're been through more trials than some marriages could handle. A lot of our stuff we try to keep pretty private but some of it you might know. I am happy to say that I feel that with everything we've been through in such a short amount of time we can survive anything. I have often said that of everything in my life my marriage is the one thing I'm the most proud of. Yes, we annoy each other. yes, we fight. yes, we are unconventional but I think all those things just bring us closer together in the end. I love that man.

So I guess that's it for now... this was pretty boring and general but I guess that's what you have to do when you don't update for nearly a year! I'll get better... I promise

Things you might not know about me...

I actually found this really hard, coming up with things that people don't know about me. But I'll give it a try. If you already know this stuff I'm sorry. I guess I talk about myself too much...

1. I like to fake interview myself. Yes you read that right, like an interview that might happen say on the tonight show or something... I know it's extremely weird/dorky and I thought I'd grow out of it but here I am days before my 25th birthday and I still do it. I sit in front of the mirror and talk to myself... I don't know why but it's delightfully fun!

2. I really, really, really can't stand it when people are mad at me or don't like me for some reason. I spend a pretty good chunk of time trying to get people to like me. Not in a fake way. I'm always me but I would never want to offend people or be rude to them on purpose. Because of that if I DO feel like someone is angry with me it drives me crazy. I'm also not good at confronting them so I tend to just avoid them like the plague. (mature I know)

3. I complain every year about being the only one who really cooks Thanksgiving for my family but I really do love it. In fact it bothers me when people offer to do too much or try to take it away from me.

4. I have an obsession with finding the perfect baby names. That's why I say I have my names but then I end up changing them... I'm fairly sure it drives Nathan insane. I'm also truly afraid that I'll want to change my children's names after I've already named them.

5. My favorite Bible story growing up was always Daniel and the lion's den. And to this day if I hear a sermon about it it makes me INCREDIBLY happy!

6. I'm obsessed with the Elephant Man. (yes you read that correctly) Since the day I found out that he was an actual person for some reason that story has just really resonated with me and broke my heart in an odd way. I told my mom that I wished he was alive today so that I could be friends with him. Pretty much anyone who has a physical deformity breaks my heart especially if they're 100% normal mentally because how hard would it be to think, act and be a normal person who everyone treats like a freak. I can't explain it.... I just love the elephant man.

7. When I was in Jr. High I had a group of girls who called me the "trash girl" because after lunch they made me throw away their trash. And more than being mad at them I'm actually mad at myself for putting up with it.

8. I have a real, honest fascination with serial killers. I know that sounds crazy but I just find it so interesting trying to get inside their heads and what could possibly make someone be that twisted. This obsession scares Nathan and I'm fairly sure I've scared you now lol.

9. Mummies are my worst fear ever. I would much rather be locked in a room with 100 live snakes and spiders than in a room with one dead mummy. I have no idea why they freak me out so much but they really really do.

10. I would much rather load this dishwasher with dirty dishes than UNload the clean ones.
